Psoriasis

This skin problem can be localized or widespread and results from inflammation leading to redness and flaking of the skin commonly involving the skin of the scalp and body.  Occasionally the nails and joints are affected.  Newer developments in treatment helps control even the most severe varieties of psoriasis.  By using topical and occasionally oral and injectable medications, flare-ups can be contained quickly in most instances.  Artificial sunlight remains an effective and well-tolerated treatment.  Do not be one of the many psoriatic sufferers who never seek the help of a dermatologist!
