Sclerotherapy for Large Spider and Varicose Veins
Sclerotherapy is a long established treatment in which a sclerosing (irritating) solution is injected into veins of the leg and thigh causing the veins to disappear. Tiny needles are used to inject the solution into individual and connecting veins. The patient will experience a tiny prick of the skin and an occasional slight stinging. The treated vein will usually disappear as the injection is done and then some redness or swelling lasts for several hours. Temporary bruising and brownish discoloration in the treated areas are possible side effects of sclerotherapy and can last from several days to a few months.

Compresssion or support stockings help minimize complication and the recurrence of treated veins.
